Day 1- Working Through Your Feelings and Emotions

It’s Day 1 of the 21-Day Mental and Spiritual Health Series! I hope you will find this post uplifting, and please feel free to leave thoughts and questions in the comments section!

Every day we experience a range of feelings and emotions. Typically, they will be a mixture of both positive and negative.

How we interact with our feelings and emotions is an important issue. If we do not interact with them properly, they can keep us from living our best lives.

To put the concept as simply as possible- we have to work through our emotions. We cannot allow them to control us, but we can’t ignore them either.

It is normal to experience both positive and negative feelings and emotions. I would encourage you to pray for an abundance of the positive and for healing for the negative (a preview into tomorrow’s post), but we will have to experience both in our lives regardless.

When we experience our positive feelings and emotions- we should enjoy them and let them fuel our productivity. We should be encouraged and energized by them. The important idea is to live with these positive feelings and emotions but not allow them to significantly interrupt our lives and the performance of our responsibilities.

When we experience negative feelings and emotions, we should pray for the Lord’s assistance and guidance. However, if we are unable to receive immediate relief from a negative feeling, we have to set our minds to working through the feeling while not allow it to crush our motivation and productivity. Now, I am not saying that the negative emotion should be ignored. We should analyze the emotion or feeling as responsibly and spiritually as possible, and decide on a course of action to resolve the feeling. Once we have resolved the feeling, we should make a determined attempt to continue on with our day -even if the feeling tries to return. If the negative emotion is extremely weighty, it is likely a planned attack from the Enemy. It can be very difficult to push through a serious negative feeling or emotion. It is best to seek help when the negatives seem to be too strong for us to handle. For smaller, more common negative feelings, we should set our minds on not allowing them to hold us back from what we need to do and especially from being with the Lord.

Emotions and feelings, both positive and negative, are a normal part of everyday life. However, we must know how to live with them. The key is working through them- not being too distracted by them and not allowing them to crush our spirits.

Scriptures for Today’s Post

Romans 12:15 (ESV)- Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.

Proverbs 15:13 (ESV)- A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed.

1 Peter 5:7 (ESV)- Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Proverbs 4:23 (ESV)- Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Today I pray over the feelings and emotions that I am experiencing and will experience today. I pray for strength to work through them and to resolve them as needed. Lord, I ask for wisdom to know when to seek help for significant emotional burdens, and I ask that you help me to always know that I am held in your hands. I speak peace and joy into all of my circumstances and relationships, and I pray for guidance to walk in all of the Fruits of the Spirit. Thank you, Father, for the sacrifice of your Son, Jesus, and thank you for the salvation and prosperity that I received when He rose from the grave. You are a good Father, and I will trust you for all my needs.

In Jesus’ mighty name I pray,

21-Day Mental and Spiritual Health Series

Visit my blog daily for 21 days as I present my first series! Each day I will post information on the topic of mental and spiritual health. There will be a teaching portion followed by relevant scripture verses, and each post will end with a prayer that will be created specifically for that day’s topic.

I strongly encourage you to post thoughts and comments throughout the series! I would love the chance to talk with you about the information that I will be covering.

A New Year

It has finally arrived…

2020 was a turbulent and painful year for many, and, as we typically do, we look forward to a new year with hope and excitement. The start of this new year will not magically fix our troubles, but it does present us with an opportunity- an opportunity to choose a new mindset.

What will your 2021 mindset be? Will it be one that is easily influenced by your circumstances? Or will it be one with an unshakeable foundation of faith and determination?

I can not tell you what this year holds for us. But I can tell you this- God is in control. God wants us to prosper and live in health and wholeness. We need to hold on to His promises, and we need to speak those promises over our lives and over the lives of our loved ones. The enemy has been rampaging lately-and it is time for us to put an end to it. We need to pray, we need to believe, and we need to act in accordance with the Word of God.

I am praying for each of you, and I am believing for a great year!

Taking Roses from Wolves (Light Poem)

Bright and beautiful

There are roses

Amongst wolves

To reach them,

One must face

The violent pack

Each rose

Has its thorns,

But beyond them

There are wolves

These wolves

Care not for the rose

Their violent intent

Is in their eyes

It takes a brave

And steady soul

To reach the rose

Past the wolves

The thorns of the rose

Burden one not

When you realize

The wolves are the true concern

Rescuing the roses

Saving them

To preserve them with care

A noble and sacrificial aim

In Everything

Even when times are tough, we have to remember that God is with us in everything. There is no situation too dark, too confusing, too painful, too shameful, too hopeless, too disappointing, too frustrating, or too terrible that God cannot help us walk through and heal us from it.

We need to hold on to this hope. We need to meditate on it and let it reach our hearts. It is truth, it is light, and it is our weapon.

The enemy comes against us, and though his tactics are numerous, none can prevail against the children of the Most High God!

It will get better! You will come out of this stronger! Your Heavenly Father loves you, and I’m praying for you!

-God’s Beloved

Forward (Light Poem)

One step

Then another

Along a path

I did not design

My plans

And my control

Are illusions

There are no

Absolute solutions

Each day will pass

And each

Will be a miracle

As I survive

and Broken

But stronger I arise

Every broken piece

To make me whole

Walking in peace

And in love

Giving of all

That I can

A perfect hope

In an imperfect world

A light

Amidst the great darkness

A Simple Message: Timing

So much of life is affected by timing. Saying the right thing at the right time, being in the right place at the right time, and even thinking the right thing at the right time. Timing is very important, and we can’t always get it right on our own.

However, our God knows the perfect timing for everything.

Listen for His voice, and follow His leading. He can help you navigate life with the best timing!

A Wasted Breath (Light Poem)

Standing alone

A burning fire

Within the heart

Frustration and anger

Filling the soul

A cry projected

Out to the air

A wasted breath

With no one there

Alone in suffering

Or lost with something missing?

Broken and defeated

Or on the verge of

An uplifting?

Finding something

That had been invisible

Knowing something

That had been unknown

A new purpose

A new understanding

A release

More true

Than a wasted breath

New Poetry Form: Evangelic Poems (Light Poems)

I have decided to explore a new direction with my poetry!

Most of the poems that I have written and posted so far are for believers. They are meant to encourage and strengthen Christians in their walk with God.

However, I also have a heart to reach those who do not yet know Christ- and I think that my poetry might be an avenue through which I can evangelize. Going forward, I will be posting a mix of my regular Faith Poems, Mini Faith Poems, and the new Light Poems.

My hope and my prayer is that my poetry will reach the widest audience possible and will bless all who read it.

Devoted to God (Faith Poem)

No matter what I face

I will always trust You

I will trust Your strength

And I will trust Your grace

This world cannot break me

Every day is in Your hand

I will walk along the path

That You have planned

I will speak love and life

To reflect Your heart

I will live out Your design

By actively playing my part
