It’s Day 9 of the 21-Day Mental and Spiritual Health Series!
In the two previous posts, I discussed both the lies that we may believe about ourselves and the lies that we may believe about others. Today, I will discuss the lies that we may believe about God.
Knowing the truth about God is a vital part of our lives as Christians. We must not allow lies of our flesh and lies of the enemy to deceive us. A few of the lies we may believe about God and the truths that can replace them are listed below.
Lie: God is distant.
Truth: God is always near to us. He is even within our very hearts.
Lie: God allows bad things to happen to us to teach us a lesson.
Truth: All of our punishment was poured out on Jesus when He was on the cross. It is the Enemy that comes against us, but God will use all evil that we encounter and turn it for our good.
Lie: God is angry or disappointed in me.
Truth: Because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, God sees us clothed in Jesus’ righteousness. He has no anger or resentment for us- only love, mercy, and grace.
It is incredibly important for us to have a proper understanding of who God is. Dispelling any lies that we may believe about God is a vital first step.
Scriptures for Today’s Post
1 John 4:8 (ESV)- Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:16 (ESV)- So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)- Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
I pray that you will reveal who you are to me in greater and greater measure each day. Lord, help me to dispel the lies that I have believed about you and replace them with the truth. I desire to rid my mind of darkness and any influences of the Enemy. I decree and declare that my mind is filled with light and truth! Thank you, Father, for all that you’ve done in my life, all that you are doing, and all that you will do.
In Jesus’ mighty name I pray,
