It’s Day 8 of the 21-Day Mental and Spiritual Health Series!
Yesterday, I discussed some of the lies that we can believe about ourselves. Today, I will be discussing the lies that we can believe about others. Any and all lies that we believe can be detrimental to our mental and spiritual health, and they can also lead to the natural and spiritual consequences that I have previously discussed. There are certain lies that we can believe about others that we need to dispel and replace with truth. Below is a list of some of these lies that we may hold.
Lie: I cannot trust anyone.
Truth: We can trust the Lord to guide us towards beneficial interactions with others and help us to navigate any difficult situations.
Lie: No one is as capable or responsible as I am.
Truth: No one is perfect. Only by continually working with the Lord we can draw closer to being the best that we can be.
Lie: Everyone else is better than I am.
Truth: We were all made in God’s image, and we each have our own individual God-given skills and talents. We cannot continually compare ourselves to others because we are each unique.
Lie: Some people just can’t be saved.
Truth: We are called to spread the gospel to all people. Only God knows who will ultimately be saved. We must operate under the assumption that everyone has the capacity to be saved.
Scripture Verses for Today’s Post
Romans 15:1 (ESV)- We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
Matthew 5:16 (ESV)- In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
1 Peter 3:8 (ESV)- Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.
Thank you for your grace and your mercy which are new each morning. I consecrate myself to you, and I am honored to do as you would have me do. I pray that you will help me to dispel the lies that I believe- particularly the lies that I believe about others. Lord, please help me to replace these lies with the truth. I decree and declare that my mental and spiritual health will improve each day and that I will continue to grow closer and closer to you, Lord.
In Jesus’ mighty name I pray,
